Benn,
I have the Denon 1802 paired with Studio 40's and am using a Acurus 200x3 amp. Adding the amp changed the sound. A little cleaner and didn't seem to have to use as much volume as before. Which makes sense as I think an increase of 3db requires doubling the power, which I did. However...
Derek,
I have an 1802 and tried what you said. I couldn't hear anything from 2 ft away from my speakers. If I got really close I could hear a slight click when I raised the volume. Not as audible as you seem to suggest. I am driving my front three channels with an Acurus 200x3 so may not be...
I agree with Ron, the movie didn't quite have the same feeling as Toy Story. Still worth seeing.
As for the Star Wars trailer, I liked it. It's quick, but it's all in the set-up. I don't want to give anything away, but it worked for me. Those kids should be far more scared of that trailer than...
I've bought a few from pawn shops. They are far and few between and be prepared to get a lot of blank stares when you mention laserdisc. Also when you're in a store, check out the LP's as well, sometimes they get thrown in with them.
This is one great demo. I have both the dolby digital dvd and the DTS LD. Awesome! I'm a car guy to begin with, but even my friends who are not are blown away. Thanks for the heads-up on the new dvd. I'll pick that up.
I moved into a new aparment and these speakers are too much. They are 2 years old and are in excellent shape. Asking for $550. Shipping is from Virginia (zip 23451). Shipping will be fairly expensive as these speakers are heavy. Please e-mail me with any questions. Thanks.

Charles,
In my apartment, I used a Fish Tape, small coil of stiff wire, to help run the speaker wire under the carpet. It seemed to work pretty well. It can be time consuming, but it was far less destructive than tearing the carpet up. You can buy fish tape at Home Depot or any hardware store...
Matt/Tim,
The best frames on the net are found at www.americanframe.com. I have used them several times and they have great service and prices. These maybe a little more expensive than you want, but they are far better quality than you'll find at Suncoast or most other places. The only...
Chris,
I would check out a store called IKEA, www.ikea.com there is one in Toronto according to their website. I've been to the Washington D.C. area store and it's awesome. I purchased a silver bookshelf that works great. They did have gloss black as well. The prices are good, and the unit...
Brian,
Thanks. Maybe HT installer is the wrong word, maybe I should say HT consultant. My dad and I will do all the installation, but we are planning on purchasing all the gear from Audio Video Solutions in Maryland. What we want them to help us with are room dimensions, room acoustics, screen...
My dad is building a dedicated HT in our basement. The room is 13'x 27' and only has the initial framing completed. We will be visiting a professional installer this weekend, and I wondered what are the essential questions to ask.
Our plan is to use Paradigm Reference speakers (studio 100's...
