I'm looking for a DVR to record unencrypted QAM channels without the need to rent a cablecard from my cable company (Cox). I'd like it to have a program guide as well, but again, without the need for a cablecard to get channel information. I know Tivo can record QAM channels, but from what I've...
I've never been able to find a reliable way of keeping new IE windows maximized. I've been using the program I listed for about a year now, and it's been a godsend for me. I haven't had any glitches whatsoever with using the program. Of course another alternative to maximized IE windows would be...
I've always loved: My Love, My Bride http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0151708/ and Wedding Story http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107347/ Unfortunately I haven't been able to find either of these on DVD with English subtitles. I say both years ago on a local foreign station; both with...
Recently my family has experienced some cable tv glitches like some channels not showing on a regular basis, and some video quality problems. My family is seriously considering finally switching to DirecTV, but unfortunatley we have many trees surrounding our house, that I think might not allow...
I've found iTunes for Windows to be just as responsive as just about any Windows app I've used. Of course, I'm running a 3.0ghz P4 with Hyperthreading and 1 gig of ram, so I'm not sure that's saying much. I have a couple of complaints about the library browser, but regardless, it's become my...
It's not free, but I still say CuteFTP is the best FTP program around, and well worth the price. It's been one of my best software purchases. I mean it's not like your going to have to upgrade your FTP program a lot, if ever, so I say shell up the bucks and get the best. IMHO anyway.
I bought St. Anger last night and have listened to it three times already. I can't say I'm impressed. Of course the terrible production sound has already been brought up, but I also simply don't find any of the songs particularly catchy or the lyrics very deep. It's definitely a loud and angry...
I'm not sure if this is the cause, but in the options menu of of WMP9, under the Media Library section, there is a section that gives an option to skip audio and video files if they are under a certain size. Make sure in both the video and audio boxes that the size is set to 0. Hope that helps.
I personally use Homesite, since I like to hand code my web sites. The professional benchmark is pretty much Dreamweaver though (particually among WYSIWYG editors), but it ain't cheap.
I've fallen in love with the beautiful colored keyboards that gamer-oriented PC makers like Hypersonic and Alienware sell. Unfortunately none of them sell my favorite keyboard, Microsoft's Natural Multimedia Keyboard. Does anyone know of another 3rd party online store that sells high quality...
You just need to get an adapter. Check out: http://www.svideo.com/6pintosvideo.html You can also try doing a google search to find some other places that sell them. Hope this helps.
I've had IE develop this problem on 2 of my previous computers. I never found out what the cause was, or a way to fix it (even by upgrading or reinstalling IE). If you ever find a solution please post it here. I'd like to know just in case it crops up again on my current computer.
I'd also say upgrade. I've been using WMP9 ever since the first beta's and I think it is a improvement over previous versions. It's interface is still a little quirky compared to some other media players like iTunes, but I still like it nonetheless.
I'd suggest Hypersonic PC at http://www.hypersonic-pc.com They're cheaper generally than Voodoo and Falcon NW, and somtimes even cheaper than Alienware. I wouldn't buy from Alienware regardless, they're not what they once where.
I used to build my own computers. It does give you the advantage of being able to pick and choose exactly what parts you want, but after a while I just got tired of having to be my own tech/warranty support. That's why I'm going to be buying my next computer.
I've heard bad things lately about Alienware's support. Apparently because of their rapid expansion (Best Buy and such) their support hasn't kept pace. You might want to check out http://www.hypersonic-pc.com They sell to the same market as Alienware does (mainly PC gamers), but I've heard good...
My Pioneer player (DV-05) also developed this problem about year ago. If I insert the CD enough times, I can usually get it to play correctly, but it is a major hassle. I unforunately don't know of a solution beyond sending in for repair. I seem to recall a posting here with the same problem...
