Thanks for the Round-Up, Mike! Although I don't post very often on this site, I religiously check your Round-Up each week. I'm hoping that Best Buy lowers its price on the 3-D Journey to the Center of the Earth. (I'll use a BB Trade-up coupon on the purchase, of course.)
No coupon for me as well after taking the survey :frowning: .
I bought six titles so far and I've been pleasantly surprised. Better than I expected, but still more than I wanted to spend.
I'll have to check this out. I've seen many versions of "Cyrano", but the one that was easily the best (in my opinion) is the RSC version with Derek Jacobi. The ending is especially poignant. I have a VHS tape of it and wish they would do a DVD version with a nice digital clean up of the show...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but where is the logic in buying the "Gangster 3 Movie Collection" on Blu-ray as a set from either Best Buy or Circuit City? If I buy each movie individually, I save money. Does the boxed set come with some special incentives? Otherwise, I say, "Forgetaboutit!"
Thanks for the update on this title. (Although a reviewer on another site stated that he didn't think the movie had been restored or improved. I think you guys here have the right information, however.) Amazon has a good price on this so I ordered it right away.
Well, if space isn't a problem you can always keep both copies of the movie. (That's what I'm going to do.) The only extras on the UK Blu-ray version are a short (24 minute) doc called "A Profile of Black Narcissus" and a trailer. They DO play on my U.S. Panasonic Blu-ray player and are...
Received "Black Narcissus" and "Great Expectations" in the mail today from Amazon.uk. I took a quick look at both and they both looked very good, so I'm glad I traded up to the Blu-ray versions. The lack of extras is the only downside so far.
Many months ago, I preordered "Black Narcissus" and "Great Expectations" on Blu-ray from Amazon UK. Yesterday, I received an e-mail that they were having a problem finding copies of them to fill my order and wanted to know if I wanted to cancel my order. I kept the order open and today I...
I wonder if we'd all feel the same IF Casey Adams had continued on in the role and did the entire series. Hindsight is great and Hugh Beaumont was terrific in the role, but if years later we watched the pilot and Hugh was in it and Casey did the show instead, we might just feel differently. (Or...
If you're speaking about the DVD that was released by Orbit Media Ltd., then, yes, it is legit. I bought it and watched it and unfortunately it was one of the worst looking DVDs I have ever seen. Pretty much it was transferred to DVD from a very poor VHS transfer.
Well, I was looking forward to importing some of these titles, but it looks as though they went into limbo: http://www.britmovie.co.uk/forums/la...html#post62359
Mine shipped from Deep Discount last week (haven't received it yet) and there were several copies at some Best Buys in Southern California, so it's out there.
Thanks Mike and Patrick. Late or not, you save me mucho time each week as your post condenses everything into one easy to use chart. Saves me the hassle and time of hunting through the Sunday's circulars or visiting countless websites. (And you always include something that's coming out...
I've been in the DVD collecting game since DVDs debuted and thanks once again, Mike, for all your work in putting this thread together each week. Every Sunday, this is my one "sure read" because it saves me so much time by having every major and important release listed in an excellent concise...
I was in Tower Records and there was a budget DVD in the TV section that featured two shows of Johnny Carson's from his very early days--not "The Tonight Show" according to the package, but a show he did that pre-dated it. It was priced at $9.99. Here's a link at DVD Planet which carries it...
I'd just move onto a different movie then, but it obviously isn't your "cup of tea." Myself, I thought the resolution was rather perfect for this character. You could say that he had many relationships throughout his life and still he never found one that was so fulfilling that he would remain...
I agree with you, Michael. Very well written. I had heard so many bad things about this film before seeing it that I almost didn't bother renting it. (I now own a copy.) I was expecting another weak effort like "Coffee & Cigarettes", but this film was one of Jarmusch's best. For those...
I watched the entire series without any problems. I'm watching on an Onkyo SP-1000 which is a relatively high-end player that has never failed to play anything I throw at it, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
This will be the fifth time for me to buy this wonderful movie if it materializes. First time--the VHS tape (no DVD available at that time) Second time--the original NTSC DVD version which was non-anamorphic Third time--the PAL DVD version which was anamorphic Fourth time--the improved...
That's what you call a late night early morning delivery.:) Circuit City has delivery centers which service different regions in your state or area. What you described sounds right. Stay off the "Vivid" setting. Go with "Cinema" or "Normal"--you'll get better picture detail and avoid...
