Elizabeth, I do no think you have anything to worry about. I think the -RW scarcity is because they are popular.

I would recommend the DirecTV TiVo. It records only in best quality and in Dolby Digital 5.1 when it is available. If you decide to add a DVD Recorder in the future, the picture quality of your recordings will be very good.

The DirecTV TiVos and HD-DVRs have dual tuners. I have the Sony HX900 DVD Recorder and the quality of the recordings from my Sony T60 D-TiVos is excellent. I would not recommend a DVD/TiVo combo player because you will lose all of the cool features on your SAT-60.

A DirecTV TiVo's lifetime or monthly subscription would cover additional DirecTV TiVos. You would pay DirecTV a $4.99 mirroring fee for the additional receiver(s). The standalone TiVo's lifetime subscription would not cover a DirecTV TiVo. Ian

I never understood why viewers would choose NYPD over Homicide. Homicide was one of the best series on TV. NYPD is mediocre in comparison. I have seen every episode and I would buy the entire series on DVD in a heartbeat. Ian
