Thanks, Mike! I imagine we won't see much of anything from Best Buy going forward until (or unless) they put up some Black Friday shippers in-store towards the end of the year. Dark days are upon us.
MIke, I may not comment with the same frequency as I once did, but I always check in every week for it and the RoundUp continues to be a trusted and invaluable resource for me. I'd hate to see it go, however, I know it requires a lot of work and a big time commitment on your part, so whatever...
Like you, Malcolm, I bought The Black Phone Blu-ray last year. It's a decent thriller and was a solid blind buy, IMO. However, I see little point in double-dipping on a 4K "upgrade." I suspect any enhancements will be minimal at best.
Otherwise for me, I'm waiting on the 4K essential...
Excellent review, Todd! I agree 100%. This is a stunning, stellar transfer and a truly gorgeous presentation. It blows all previously available versions out of the water. There is simply no comparison. If you are a fan of the series, THIS is the way to go!
Something's up with the 4K To LIve And Die in L.A. My Amazon pre-order from June 6 didn't arrive and this morning I got an email asking me to reconfirm my order with a new ship date of August 16th.
I watched this last night and it is a visual stunner. The Dolby Vision encode is nothing short of miraculous. This is a superb release that belongs in every Tarantino fan's library. Yes, a Dolby Atmos track would have been a welcomed addition, but as Neil points out, this DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1...
I have all five seasons on DVD and no matter what Disney decides to do here, I will not be parting with them. ALL of the music is intact, which with this show is majorly important. Plus, the DVDs are loaded with great extras (commentaries, promos, etc.) and I imagine a good number of them will...
I have the 4K Steelbook edition and there are no freezes around 13:52 using my OPPO UDP-203. The Pizza Hut jump cut, now that's a different story. LOL!
I have the Ignite Films 4K restoration of Invaders From Mars pre-ordered for this week. I may get Thor at some point if it's a Black Friday deal. Otherwise, that's it for me.
I have not seen the film, but I am surprised there is not a 4K version of Licorice Pizza. Does it have something to do with how it was shot? Just curious.
Thanks for the RoundUp, Mike! I pre-ordered the BB 4K/UHD Steelbook way back when, so, hopefully, it will arrive on or before Tuesday. Otherwise, nothing else for me this week.
I watched the Smilebox version last night and it shattered my expectations. From an a/v presentation standpoint, I was anticipating something akin to Warner's brilliant How The West Was Won restoration. In my opinion, this release takes everything that was exceptional about that one and turns it...
Thanks, as always, Mike. I am eagerly awaiting my Amazon Brothers Grimm pre-order. I had no idea there was a 3-film Edward G. Ulmer set coming out, so I just added it to my Amazon pre-order. Thanks to your RoundUp, Tuesday is going to be an extra fun day!
Is there any chance Warner Archive will ever come out with a Blu-ray release of this? It strikes me as a perfect candidate for their niche film releasing structure. It may be a flawed movie but it is still deserving of better treatment than it has so far received on home video.
I stumbled upon this the other day and began watching The Suicide Squad in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. I have a reasonably fast broadband connection (400mb down/40mb up) but the film kept stuttering/buffering etc. to the point that I gave up trying to watch it. I switched over to my Xbox...
Thanks, as always, for the RoundUp, Mike!
I'm viewing the forum on a Mac with Chrome. Like most of the others who posted, I could not see the new RoundUp, nor, login to the website using my saved bookmark. On a whim, I changed my cookies setting from "always allow HTF" to "cookies blocked" and...
