No. It's because the library isn't good on the PS3 and won't be for a while to come. Nearly all the games can be had in better versions on the 360. The only reason I'd recommend the PS3 to someone right now is for use as a Blu-Ray player. It's great at that task. Too bad Sony shot themselves...

But there's a huge advantage if you've interested in gaming as well. I'm not a MS fanboy. Hell, I own all three current consoles. The Xbox is hands down the better gaming system at the moment. I believe it will continue to be until well in to next year.

Two issues. 1) The player is very picky when there's the slightest bit of dust on the disk.They seem to be improving this through updates though. 2) Incorrect colorspace being passed for HDMI -> DVI connections.

Just my 2 cents, but that sounds like a lot of trouble to go through just to avoid the short resolution change.

I'm guessing the Blu-Ray playback on the PS3 will be equivalent to DVD playback on the PS2. So you'll get output that the average consumer will enjoy, but won't necessarily match the needs of those who are really in to HT.

Crap ... turns out my black level was just set too high. Recalibrating fixed the blurriness 100%.

I watched my copy for the first time last night and it too has a problem at the layer change. The chapter at the layer change is completely unwatchable. I don't have the receipt anymore, so I'm going to contact Universal about it. For the record, my disc was made in Mexico.
