I know you can just pop them off, but that leaves the sides of the case open. Anyone find a good solution? Right now, I have 3 things I'm thinking about: 1. Cut them off with the jig saw 2. Get some alumnium stock at the hardware store, and make replacements 3. Get a small 3 place Rack...
OK, I just found out I can get the Denon 3803 for a steal ($575) vs. the $1400 for the 4802. So, I'm thinking I'll get the 3803 and add some outlaw Mono Blocks to make up for the power difference. They will be powering Def Techs: Front: BP10's Center: CLR2000 A Surrounds: BPVX (Movies)...
Well, I'm getting a Denon 3803 or 4802, so I'll have A and B setups. I think I'm getting bi-poles for the surrounds (A) and rears, and then a set of direct radiating for the other surrounds (B) This will allow me to do 7.1 movies with the bi-poles all around, and then DVD Audio in 5.1 with...
FYI on the extension cord thing, I had to get a longer cord when I got my SVS. Being well aware of the draw it might make I shopped around. I found that a good Vacuum cleaner ext. cord tends to be the best. They aren't bright orange, and can carry a lot of current. Murdock
FYI You all are totaly missing one of the best new technologies. Organic LED. Promises to be brighter then RPTV, Flatter than LCD, and Cheaper than Tubes. Its a few years off, but very promising: http://zdnet.com.com/2100-1103-936001.html Murdock
OK, if I'm doing a 7.1 setup for Movies, what type of speaker to I want for the side surrounds? Most things I've seen says bipole or dipole for the surrounds, and direct radiating for the rears. Somethings I read say that dipole or bipole's for the rears are better. So, its a personal choice...
Hmm, thats a good point, and yet another reason to step down to the BP10's. Thanks for input, more comments/suggestions are always appreciated. Murdock
Well, not that money isn't a concern, its just that budget goes a lot further now that I can get employee discount thru work :) Therefore, I'm shooting for the best sounding/matching Def-Tech setup I can do within a certain price, which currently includes the 450, etc. Thanks. Murdock
OK, so updated list: Fronts: BP30s or BP10s Center: CLR2000 Surrounds: BPVX Rears: Studio Monitor 450 That gives me the 6.5" drives all around. Would there be a better rear selection? I'm trying to kinda stick with the dolby recommendations for movies on speaker types. Murdock
OK, I shot an email of to Chet :) Aren't the 10's and the 30's the same driver, just the 30's have 4 of them, right? I figured with the SVS in there, I could get by without that extra 2Hz extension the 30's have over the 10's ;) Yea, I had a SVS PC-Plus 20-39 before, so I know they can...
OK, I'm getting either a Denon 3803 or 4802 Receiver. I'm also getting a SVS PB2-Plus So, now I need the other 7 speakers. To me, the Def-Tech website sucks, so I'm having problems finding the info I need. Check my list, and see if it all sounds right: Fronts: BP30s Center: Pro Center 2...
I'm comparing the 3803 and the 4802 because I can now get the 4802 for about the same price I was going to pay for the 3803. I noticed that it lists the bandwidth for the component as only being 50MHz instead of the 100Mhz on the 3803, is this going to cause problems later on? Right now I only...
No one around here carries both. Paradigms are only available at one store within about 200 miles. On another note, I do watch mostly Movies, but want them to be music Capable as well. I'll be mating them up with a SVS PB2-Plus so, I'll be getting the Def Techs with the unpowered subs if I do...
Anyone have any reviews comparing any Definitive Technologies speakers with Paradigms? I'm trying to get an idea of the BP8's Vs. the Monitor Series. Murdock
Well, looks like my Roommate and I will be purchasing one here before the end of the month. We are splitting the cost on this one, then down the line, we'll do the same again. That way we have one to start, and eventually will have two to try and fill up that huge room! Then, if we go seperate...
Well, I think you may have sold another PB2 for SVS. I have a Large HT Room, 25'x27'10' (Peak) giving me >6000Cubic Ft. and two open areas (Stairs, and kitchen) To fill this I had gotten a 20-39 PC+ with the intention of getting another later. Well, I ended having to get rid of the 20-39 a few...
3 Months old, perfect condition. Includes box, manuals, etc. Selling for $775 $750 Local Pick-up only. I'm located in Aurora, Colorado. Please email me at: [email protected] Murdock
Yea, I had read through that. I plan on trying to bring that up as much as possible without the BFD, and then cutting the other peaks down to match that one. Murdock
I'll try to get them up soon. Denver is kinda shutdown right now, so I'm sure it'll be the end of the week. FYI Mine was about $60-$70 in parts. Murdock
No, not on that. We got it where it "sounds good" to us. We could try. I didn't think the phase would matter a whole lot as far as the levels go. The mains don't seem to be canceling any of it out, or boosting it more than I'd expect really. That Blue line is the sub all on its own, no mains...
So, I did some tests last night. I set the volume to do 70dB on the Sub with the receiver Test tone. I then ran through the test tones on my SVS 20-39PC+ I only ran the tones with the sub+mains on from 50Hz up. Crossover on the receiver is set at 80Hz. I have a really solid dip...
I did one last week. I'll have pics up by the end of the week. It turned out very, very well. For my next one, I'm thinking about just building the same back box section, then attaching the Bed Bath & Beyond "collage" frame with a hinge. Saves having to cut the plexi, which is a big pain...
I should Clarify: 1. Receiver 2. CD Player 3. DVD Changer 4. Turntable So that eats up all the shelves. I was thinking about making another hanging shelf for it. Murdock
I'm thinking about getting a BFD to go with my new SVS. I also just got a new TV, because of that I'm getting a new audio rack, and TV stand. So, how would you mount a BFD on something like this: Altra Audio Rack Any ideas? Thanks. Murdock
I have a Sony V333 ES Receiver, and an SVS 20-39 PC+, and Definitive Technologies BP8 Tower Speakers (Mains). We did the VE audio setup, and run the sub about 2DB hot. I'm sure that my room is affecting the curve though. We have 3 couches, and other furniture. Plus the room is 25x27x10...
