I wish Fox/ Disney would release a 4K blu of SOUTH PACIFIC but wishful thinking sadly. So much stuff never likely to appear due to Disney's complete non support of physical media.
I think ,sadly, it is highly unlikely that Disney will ever relase Fox titles (classics) on 4K. Bob Igor has no interest whatsoever in physical media......
With so many films, some of dubious quality, being released in 4K Ultra HD surely it’s time for David Leans’s multiple Oscar winning Doctor Zhivago to get the 4K ultra HD treatment from George Feltenstein and his restoration team. Although this was an MGM film back in 1965 I understand Warner...
With Bob Igor in charge of disney and recent comments about resurrecting some home video physical media is there any chance we finally might see some 4K releases from the Fox library?
I would love to see the Warner Archive releasing a 4K UHD of Doctor Zhivago one of David Lean’s greatest epics
Columbia did a fabulous job on Lawrence of Arabia so hopefully Warner’s who own the rights to Dr Zhivago can revisit this masterpiece of filmmaking.
Absolutely. I have 12 copies on order with my wholesaler for my UK customers,,,, Now we need the WA experts to work on a 4K ultra blu ray release of Dr Zhivago.... David Lean's Bridge on the River Kwai and Lawrence of Arabia have both had 4K releases from Sony.
With Lawrence and Kwai out on 4K utra bluray I would have thought David Lean's Dr Zhivago would be perfect for the 4K treatment on disc especially as a 4Krestoration was carried out a few years ago in collaboration with the BFI and Warner's . Lets see this happen.
Basically Disney are not supporters of physical media anymore and are highly unlikely to start supporting blu ray etc again. They are pushing their Disney Plus streaming service. End of an era for us collectors on Disney titles with one or two exceptions ( Marvel Star Wars etc)
With the wonderful Song of Norway coming in April would Kino be interested in getting the rights to The Great Waltz? Another Cinerama epic from the early 70s. I am not sure who the film rights owners are however....
I HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THEIR LIST OF PURCHASERS , OBVIOUSLY AFTER MANY PURCHASES DISNEY MOVIE CLUB HAVE FOUND ME TO BE BASED IN THE UK. AT LEAST I WAS ABLE TO GET MULTIPLE PURCHASES FROM THEM BEFORE I WAS STRUCK OFF!
I would love to see the last remaining big war epic on blu ray Operation Crossbow I am sure the Warner Archive team read this thread All the other great epic war movies have had a release on blu
THE BFI put on a digital print at theNFT 1 last night for the 50th anniversary. Print was little dull in my opinion and sadly ran for only 155 minutes with no roadshow elements such as no intermission etc.
On another note , I hope Warners occasionally look at these posts...... what about...
I doubt it as Warner's in the UK are not exactly huge supporters of classic DVD/Blu Ray physical releases. It may get an HMV UK exclusive release in the future as they have a tie up arrangement with Warner Home Video.
