I got around the region code by copying the disc and streaming it, I am happy to report (I Guess) that it is the same.
as the Japanese 4k version and does have English subtitles. The Japanese version doesn't have any advantage other.

I don't know about the Italian 4k but the Excellent Japanese 4k disc is not the same as the last Blu Ray that came out here (Not the new BR) I did easily prefer the 4k disc, but I did prefer some of the color on the original BR ,I ordered the Italian.

I wonder what is faded and what are the choices made in the transfer, "Days of Heaven" for example looked better on DVD and Blu Ray(and 4k) for sure ,but there are shots on the original Laser disc I remember having more color, When the First dvd came out (and all releases up to the 4k version)...
I have trouble with the hdr on Days of Heaven 4K disc ,the image on my Sony tv played by my hdr pan br player was too dark,when I switched
to my Sony br player without hdr ,the darkness problem went away
?? I played other hdr discs and they looked fine,
I got a real 4k version from Japan ,it has no English subtitles, you have to add them, but overall, it's the best version.
Maybe if Criterion wasn't so blind to Bertolucci we might have an even better version.
You don't mention aspect ratio. Since the IMAX screen is not 16x9 I fought most of IMAX scenes looked fantastic.
