A Few Words About A few words about...™ Captain America: The Winter Soldier -- in Blu-ray

Thought the 3D was a complete waste on this one (as it is on so many action movies). I would have preferred a 2D presentation much more given the material. But since Hollywood insists on pushing 3D down our throats all of the big movie theaters (IMAX, RPX, ETX, etc) have it showing in 3D only...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Conjuring -- in Blu-ray

Hey Robert. If you haven't watched it yet create the same conditions (no lights, good volume) and watch Sinister. I found it far more effective in producing chills with one of the best surround mixes I've heard in quite some time. VERY moody and most of the violence is more implied than seen.

Disney Takes Digital Copy To The Web

I have far less of a problem with Disney including a disc for their digital copies than their knack for always including a standard definition file for their digital copy. While there are other studios that do this on occasion it is certainy not the norm anymore. If I'm buying a Blu-ray edition...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Dark Knight Rises -- in Blu-ray

What has always baffled me is why Nolan didn't decide to shoot all of the non-IMAX scenes with 70mm instead of 35mm. It would have matched better and it shouldn't have had the noise issues. I don't think it would have been budget issues either since I'm pretty sure the budget for this stomps the...

    A Few Words About A few words about...™ Frankenweenie -- in Blu-ray

They photographed it both ways and decided black and white looked better. There is quite a bit about it in the special features. They even changed the colors of a lot of the props to work better with B&W. It is a great making of feature that shows just how much effort went into it.

Did Universal do a trade-up for Gladiator?

    Blu-ray Review Patton (2012 Remaster) Blu-ray Review

If the studios have to replace previous releases because they botched them up so bad, the incentive would be to get them right the first time, especially with big collector's titles, so they don't have to replace them later. Fox isn't a hero here, the mistake shouldn't have been made in the...

    Blu-ray Review Patton (2012 Remaster) Blu-ray Review

I guess you can call me a grump but I still feel that Fox should have a trade-in program for this. We all have sifted through the endless threads about the old release and how they botched it. Fox knows it too. Now they release essentially the exact same disc (trailers and all it sounds like)...
