Mount center channel above or below projector screen?

I've read conflicting advice on forums about the optimal place to put the center channel speaker. I'm not going to be purchasing an acoustic screen, so an in-wall speaker behind the screen won't be happening. My screen is 110" diagonal (100 1/2" high x 58 1/2" wide) and I'll be purchasing...

Where should I mount my right in-wall surround speaker?

Thanks everyone, I installed them in-wall last night in "C" per everyone's feedback. I considered di-poles, but it's such a narrow walkway and I have tall people in my family, I didn't want it to be annoying to duck or twist everytime you pass by, so for that reason alone I chose the in-walls...

Where should I mount my right in-wall surround speaker?

Because the in-wall speakers do pivot, should I mount them in location C, then point the pivots towards the front row? Is that what you're saying to do? Rather than location B?

Where should I mount my right in-wall surround speaker?

From the specs for the Polk 265-RT speaker: "1" swivel-mount silk/polymer dome tweeter" "Dual 6-1/2" woofers and a pivoting silk-dome polymer tweeter deliver wide frequency response, from deep bass to crystal-clear highs." I'm curious if that would change your answer?

Where should I mount my right in-wall surround speaker?

For my left and right surrounds, I will be adding in-wall speakers so that people don't hit them as they go by the narrow walkway on both sides. Let's say I go with the Polk Audio 265-RT which is 7 1/4" wide by 19 1/4" tall. [Please see the picture attached to this post before continuing to...

With only a $1,500 budget for speakers, what do you recommend?

Wow, some interesting feedback. If I'm to take the collective suggestions on this thread I would say: #1 Spend a good $500 or so on a really good sub #2 Spend the rest on the front channels and center, add the rest as time allows So, are floor-standing speakers really about the music and that...

With only a $1,500 budget for speakers, what do you recommend?

Good idea, I'll keep an eye out for some RTi or LSi's near me (Austin, TX). As food for thought, here is another option that came out right at $1,700. This provides a 5.1 setup for now, then I could add the 2 surrounds later. Klipsch KF-28 x2 => $900Klipsch Icon 5-1/4" center => $250Lava...

With only a $1,500 budget for speakers, what do you recommend?

Some great points. What would you suggest if I was to only get 2 fronts, a center and a sub? I have some spare speakers that I could use in the meantime for rear channels and I could hold off on the left/right surrounds. Is $1,700 enough for a "higher end" speaker package with just 2...

With only a $1,500 budget for speakers, what do you recommend?

I just noticed my subject says $1,500 and post says $1,700...it is $1,700 that I have to work with...

With only a $1,500 budget for speakers, what do you recommend?

I have about $1,700 that I can put towards getting a 7.1 surround sound speaker package for my home theater room (13'6" wide x 20' deep). The purpose of the theater room and what we enjoy breaks down to 50% movies, 25% TV-watching, 15% gaming and 10% listening to all kinds of music. Haven't...
