Got to get this Noir XIX treasure chest, especially for Mitch Leisen's No Man of Her Own. Could get expensive as usually I buy these for the rest of what's left of Mitch's family. Dark City is also a must!

    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

I'll probably get The Alaskans but REALLY hope they can get their rights in order and release 77 Sunset Strip, Surfside 6, Bourbon Street Beat and/or Hawaiian Eye. Won't get my hopes up. though.

Biblical-Roman-Egyptian epics not yet on Blu-ray

Prodigal & Ruth are at the top of my most-wanted, too. I ran into an interesting YouTube channel that, among others, presents a gorgeous 720p version with English subs of Siege of Syracuse from '61. Was really enjoying it but the it cut off before the end. The author claims he is searching...

Blu-ray Review You Never Can Tell Blu-ray Review

Mine arrived yesterday and I'm joyful to report that, through my eyes, the visuals have excellent sharpness and are such an improvement over the old DVD. The "beastatory" scenes are in negative so a bit wonky but were intended to have a haunting dream-like quality. All in all just love this...

Criterion's Blu Ray edition of Rosemary's Baby no longer plays

I had an odd occurrence with a Criterion BD of A Matter of Life and Death. I'd just bought it at B&N sale a some years ago. Popped it in, played it up to a point where it stopped and started then began breaking up every few frames. Took it back to B&N and got a replacement, which has played...

Blu-ray Review You Never Can Tell Blu-ray Review

Some people really love this movie, I among them, and I pre-ordered it. Even if it's only a bit sharper and a bit cleaner than the old DVD, I'm totally in. Few joyful and fun classic movies like this make it to blu-ray and it is a rare event for me and long hoped for. So, yes, I bought it and...

Blu-ray Review Helen of Troy Blu-ray Review

The lack of an official CD of Steiner's gorgeous score is something I dearly hope will be rectified one day. There is bootleg of dubious quality around, but we hope for better. Thankfully with this wonderful blu-ray we can enjoy the music as well as the majestic visuals together.

Blu-ray Review The Boob & Why Be Good? Blu-ray Review

Come on WB Archives, give us some more of these wonderful silents. God that we might see Greed, The Wind, 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse, The Student Prince and The Crowd (all with the Carl Davis scores), please!

Movies you want on HD disc but don't expect to ever see

Any more classic Peplum or Sword and Sandal films whatsoever, which really pisses me off.

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Robe -- in Blu-ray

The ideal double feature would obviously be The Robe and Demetrius and the Gladiators. It might be hoping for a miracle but perhaps the foreign 20th Century Fox entities might be able to do it, But, with the Disney purchase "disaster" it will never happen here. Funny though that both are...

    Notorious (1946) and Spellbound??

I hadn't played mine for a few years and, after viewing perfectly the companion Rebecca BD, I decided to revisit Spellbound. The disc was rejected by my Oppo and even by my Mac connected OWC Mercury Pro for whatever reasons. Thankfully, I haven't had that many duds, but when a $70...

Man´s Castle and other new Borzage restorations screening at MoMA

Thank God France released HD versions of Borzage's masterpiece trilogy of Seventh Heaven, Lucky Star and Street Angel. Too bad no company in the USA has any interest in making these available in HD stateside.

Will MGM and Warner Bros. collaborate on MGM's 100th anniversary?

Just hoping and praying that the upcoming TCM The Wind will be that recent restoration. That would be something REALLY special!
